KitchenAid ovens and ranges use the Whirlpool-family F-E fault system, where the F code names the function and the E sub-code narrows the cause. A code points us to a circuit, which we test before replacing a part. Common KitchenAid fault codes we see include:

Common Problems We Fix
On KitchenAid ovens and ranges, the calls we run most are an F3 sensor fault that stops the oven from heating, an F2 stuck-key fault that locks the control, and a door-latch fault after self-clean. On gas models a weak oven igniter is the usual no-bake cause. How We Diagnose a Kitchenaid
The F-E format is the most informative code system we work with, because the sub-code does real work. F3-E0 and F3-E1 both concern the oven temperature sensor but describe opposite electrical conditions, an open circuit against a shorted one, and that distinction changes what we test. An open reading points at the sensor itself or a broken harness connection; a short more often points at a pinched wire where the harness passes the oven liner. Reading the sub-code correctly saves a part swap.
Dishwashers are where KitchenAid generates the most volume, and most of those calls are not electronic at all. A unit that will not drain is usually holding a filter packed with debris, a sump with glass or a seed lodged in it, or a drain pump with a jammed impeller. We clear and test the mechanical path before looking at the control, and we check the drain hose high loop, since an installer who skipped it lets the disposal push water straight back into the tub.
Repair or Replace a Kitchenaid
KitchenAid is one of the more repairable brands on our roster, largely because of the Whirlpool parts network. Sensors, latches, igniters, pumps, and control boards are available and reasonably priced, and the diagnosis is quick when the code is read properly. For the commercial-style ranges and the built-in refrigeration, repair is the clear economic call in nearly every case.
Freestanding dishwashers are the honest exception. When an older KitchenAid dishwasher needs a control board and a pump and a latch at the same time, the parts and labor start to approach what the appliance is worth, and we will tell you that plainly rather than stacking repairs onto it. The built-in and panel-ready units are a different calculation, since the panel and the cabinet cutout make a replacement more involved than the sticker suggests.
