Typical Causes
Cooling loss rarely means the appliance is finished. A condenser packed with dust makes the compressor work against itself until the box cannot hold temperature, and it is one of the most common calls we run in dusty, dry Douglas County homes. A defrost heater that has burned open lets frost build until it blocks airflow to the fresh-food side. A tired door gasket breaks the seal just enough to pull in warm, humid air, which then freezes on the evaporator and starts the same cycle. Before You Book
Note the brand, the model and serial number from the tag inside the door, and any code on the display. Pull the unit forward only if it is safe to do so, and leave the doors closed to hold whatever cold remains.
