What Is Usually Behind It
A leak is a symptom with a short list of causes, and which appliance is leaking narrows it quickly. Under a refrigerator, the most common source is a frozen or blocked defrost drain: melt water that should run to the evaporation tray instead backs up and spills onto the floor. A cracked drain pan, a failed water valve, or a split line to the ice maker or dispenser can also be responsible. Under a dishwasher, leaks usually come from a worn door gasket, a pump or valve seal that has hardened, a cracked sump, or the unit overfilling because a valve or float has failed.
Because these appliances sit tight against cabinetry and, in many Castle Rock kitchens, hardwood or engineered flooring, we treat even a slow leak as urgent. Water wicks under cabinet toe-kicks and into subfloor where it does its damage out of sight. The repair itself is usually a seal, a valve, or a cleared drain, all of which are far less costly than the flooring they protect.

Sub-Zero: a blocked defrost drain is the classic built-in leak; the drain heater and routing are the first things we inspect on a warming unit that also leaks.
Bosch: a dishwasher leak often trips the base float and shows as an E15 code, which points us to the leak source under the tub.
Miele: waterproof systems and their F-series codes can flag an internal leak or valve fault before water reaches the floor.
Wolf and Thermador: steam ovens and combi units add a water reservoir and lines that can seep; we check the fittings and pump.
Viking, Monogram, and KitchenAid: door gaskets, drain pumps, and inlet valves are the usual culprits, diagnosed by running the unit and watching the water.
Stop the Water First
If an appliance is actively leaking, shut off its water supply valve, unplug it if it is safe to reach the cord, and wipe up standing water so it does not spread under cabinets. Then book a visit and a technician will find and fix the source.
