Identify Your Dacor Generation
Dacor wall ovens and ranges fall into a few eras and they behave differently. The older Epicure and Renaissance units use relay boards and simple displays. The Discovery generation added smarter controls and, on some ranges, the illuminated knobs Dacor became known for. The newest Modernist units use a touch interface and a different fault vocabulary. Find the model and serial plate, usually on the oven door frame or behind the kick panel, and note it. On Dacor more than most brands, the model number decides which parts still exist.
Relay Boards and the Illuminated Knobs
On Discovery-era ranges the lit knobs are wired, not decorative. When a knob goes dark but the burner still lights normally, the LED or its harness has failed and the range is safe to use. When a knob lights but the burner does not respond, that is the opposite problem and worth a call. The older relay boards are a known weak point too. An oven that heats only sometimes, or a relay you can hear chattering, usually traces to the board rather than the element, which is why we test the board before quoting an element.
Oven and Cooktop Checks
If a Dacor oven runs cold, confirm the door closes square and the gasket has no gaps. These doors are heavy, and one that has sagged on its hinges leaks enough heat to skew every recipe. On gas cooktops, clear the ports and set the cap flat before assuming an igniter failed. If the broiler works but the bake does not, or the reverse, that split points at a single element or relay rather than the whole control.

Why There Is No Single Code List
Dacor fault reporting varies by generation, and no one chart covers all of them. A Modernist unit may show a code on its touch screen, while an Epicure or Renaissance is more likely to give you behavior than a number. We work from the symptom and the model plate instead of a universal code table, which is why the first question we ask about a Dacor is always which one you have.
Where to Stop
Reading your model plate, closing a sagging door gently, and clearing burner ports are safe. Relay boards, knob harnesses, and gas valves are not. Parts for the older generations are increasingly limited, so before any repair on an Epicure or Renaissance unit we confirm the part still exists rather than start work we cannot finish.
